This week, I had the absolute pleasure of chatting to my good friend @spudjitsu about excelling in both sport and life.
Ben and I worked together back in 2019, and since then he’s gone from strength to strength: Ben competes on the international stage in BJJ, runs a successful S&C/Nutrition coaching consultancy called @unorthodox_performance, is a BJJ coach…and in the process of completing his PhD. So needless to say, this man is an absolute operator!
We discussed everything from productivity hacks, lifestyle management, performance eating strategies and making weight. This week, I had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with pro cyclist Rob Britton. Rob’s been racing bikes professionally for over 10 years and it was fascinating to hear how he’s upgraded and adapted his nutrition strategies throughout his career.
There’s an incredible amount of value and lessons to be taken away from this conversation with Rob. From the ‘starvation culture’ of pro cycling back in the day with the aim of being as light as possible, to building solid fuelling and recovery strategies to perform optimally on the world tour.

With the correct energy management and life periodisation, you’ll avoid burnout and improve your longevity in the game.
We need to acknowledge and appreciate that everything is linked together and it’s very difficult to compartmentalise one stressor from another as it compounds onto the next, and the next, and the next.
